It’s 10:30 pm. I’m in bed. I can hear the noise of the shower, my husband is busy finishing items for his Hut trip tomorrow. It’s his job now’ he skies in and out of the various huts owned by Summit Huts, here in Summit County Colorado. All of them located high in the Rockies
My cell phone says to start writing. I’m already writing My back is warm, I have a headache, too much to handle. Not a bad pain , I just took a Tylenol.
I’m looking at the light that hangs from our bedroom ceiling’ It has shiny glass fluted globes golden and silver, also black twisted rod iron that circles and curves creating quite a beautiful fixture and the ceiling is very high. With real Douglas Fir beams. of course one desperate little smoke alarm to keep us from dying.
To the left is my husband’s world globe on top of a dresser, comes from the eighties it has vanished countless countries.
Lights are out now. Husband tells me he is going into Sisters Hut. Parking in the Wellington lot. Skiing up the Sally Barber trail to Nightmare on Baldy trial and then into the hut . Well these aren’t small, sleeps 26 people and in great bunk rooms. My guy stays in the separate Hut-master room away from the other people who have rented space in the rooms.
Lots of times there are different groups of people. Families, friends, sometimes work buddies or now and then a single person. No dogs allowed. A cistern on the roof captures the snow, as it melts it drops to where a pump is to get water to the snow melt pan on the wood burning stove. Does that make sense?
I’m tired it’s now 11:16 pm I want to try to sleep. I don’t sleep well, a curse of being older and also a huge Full Moon outside. It sparkles on the white snow that is piled up around our home. It glitters like silver rhinestones. For the moment peace.
Thanks for reading.
